Helpful Information on Pneumatic Systems and Their Applications
In order for the compressed air circuit elements to work long-lasting and efficiently, the following precautions must be taken, starting with the air installation to be installed.
Matters to be Considered in Installation
Compressor or compressor groups, whose capacity has been carefully calculated according to the needs of the system for the compressed air installation, should be connected to the piping with a flexible part (pressure resistant hose, etc.) in order to prevent vibrations from being transmitted to the piping. As seen in the figure, horizontal pipelines drawn from above should descend 1-2 cm per 1 meter with a 1-2% slope in the direction of the air flow and should not be closed at the top, but should be lowered with a vertical pipe in order to take the accumulated water. At the end of the pipe there should be a collection tube and a drain cock. Pipes to be lowered from horizontal lines for use must be connected from the top of the horizontal line, and a discharge tap must be attached to the end. The water accumulated in the compressor tank and the installation should be emptied frequently. It is recommended to join the ends of the horizontal lines to form a closed circuit.
Matters to be Considered in the Application
Conditioner, valve, cylinder etc. Care should be taken not to allow foreign matter to enter into the components until they are connected to the circuit.
Before the connection, air must be supplied to the system and the impurities that may remain in the installation should be thrown out.
If Teflon tape is used for sealing in connections, Teflon pieces should be prevented from escaping into the device it is attached to, by wrapping one tooth back from the end of the threads of the fasteners (couplings, etc.) to which it is wrapped.
When making threaded connections, it should be ensured that no wrong teeth are caught, and excessive force should be avoided during tightening.
The conditioner in the circuit should be connected closer than 2m to the place of use. Otherwise, some of the oil that should go to the place of use in fog with the air will collapse in long lines and cause the circuit to be oil-free. The water accumulated in the filter during use should be drained frequently from the lower valve. Only the oils specified on the label on the reservoir or special conditioner oil should be added to the lubricator and the lubrication adjustment should be made according to the needs of the circuit.
In order to be sure that oily air is actually going into the circuit, it should be checked whether there is oil in the air discharged from the exhaust outlets of the valves.
If air is constantly coming out of the exhaust of one of the valves in any circuit, the cylinder controlled by this valve should be checked first. For this, the connections with the valve are removed and air is supplied to the cylinder from the outside in turn in both directions and it is checked whether there is continuous air coming out from the other end. If there is such a leak, the cylinder needs to be repaired. Otherwise, since the leakage inside the cylinder can only come out of the valve's exhaust, it may mistakenly suggest that the valve is faulty.
